Brief Information on The Founder

The Founder of the Phoenix University is Sen. (Dr) Abdullahi Adamu CON, Turakin Keffi, who has been in public service for nearly five decades from serving in appointive offices such as permanent secretary in the old Plateau State and Minister of State for Works & Housing to being the first elected governor of Nasarawa State, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and later The National Chairman of The All Progressives Congress. His commitment to education led him to initiate and establish the Nasarawa State University, Keffi in his first two years as governor. Throughout his life, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu has been devoted to the advancement of Agwada in all aspects as demonstrated by his numerous welfare enhancement interventions including a hospital (now running for 4 decades), primary and secondary schools, community/microfinance bank, etc. Turakin Keffi’s enduring desire to give Agwada a chance in all facets of life informed his desire to establish a university with the sole aim of providing higher/tertiary education at affordable rate to the community and also to enable the community to derive all the benefits of socio-economic prosperity that a university brings to its host environment.
